Pancake Tuesday :)
The Senior Room followed 'Nevin Maguires' recipe for 'Fluffy Pancakes'. They created the pancakes from scratch, measuring out all the ingredients themselves, cooking them on the pan and then enjoying their creations!
STEM - Design and Make a Superbowl Pitch with working catapult!
History Speaker Visit
The Children in the Senior Room enjoyed a visit form Aidan Dockery who spoke on many history topics. He also showed them bullets, gas masks and weaponry from the World War 1.
'The Bee Barn' Visit
Monday 20th November the Senior Room visited 'The Bee Barn' in Sheelin for Science Week. The children learnt lots about bees, working bees, hives and making candles.
Hall'o'ween Bark
Local Projects
5th & 6th Classes created group projects based on the local history. The studied Bishop Bedell, Kilmore Cathedral, Clough Oughter & Flemings Folly!
STEM Challenge!
Pupils were asked to create a scaffolding tower, strong enough to hold a lego man. Each group was given a pack of index cards and 30cm selotape to create this.

Anaise, Katy, Jason, Joshua, Lewis, Liam, Nick & Ruby, the Class of 2023, congratulations, you did it. You have reached the end of your journey in primary school. Teaching and watching you grow over the past two years has been a privilege as I have gotten to know each one of you and your unique personalities. I wish you the very best of luck in your transition to secondary school. I have no doubts you are all going to go on to do incredible things. Rugby Success!
Congratulations to Jack, who represented Ulster in Wales over the Easter holidays. Jack's team played six matches, five of which they won and one they drew. Overall, they won the entire tournament. There was great excitement in school when Jack produced his medal and told the class his news. Well done, Jack, what an incredible achievement!
Daffodil Day
New Library Books!
Our reading area has had an upgrade in the form of new reading books! We are very excited to start reading them during DEAR time.
World Book Day
As you can see, the boys and girls in the Senior Room put a huge effort into their costumes for World Book Day. We celebrated with a fashion show in the hall; we watched a video from Jeff Kinney, author of "Diary of a Wimpy Kid"; 3rd - 6th class carried out a quiz, and finally, we completed some illustrations.
Baking with TY Mini Company "In the Mix"
The Senior room was delighted when two past pupils from Kilmore National school, Kayleigh and Jade, came in to do some baking with them. The girls have created a recipe book called "In The Mix" for their Transition Year Mini Company. They made Rocky Roads with the boys and girls. They were delicious. Thank you so much, girls!

Science Week
As part of Science week, the Senior Room had a visit from a Marine Biologist. We learned lots of exciting information, including light distribution in the ocean, how to measure it and Plankton distribution. Look at the Secchi disks we made, a tool used to test water transparency.
U14 Cup Winner
A huge congratulations to Anaise, who recently won three finals in camogie and football for Lacken GFC. There was great excitement throughout the school when the cup and a medal were produced. Well done, Anaise!
Halloween Treats
After a jam-packed first term, the Senior room deserved a treat! We made chocolate ghosts out of strawberries and bats out of Oreos and marshmallows.
Maths Week Competition Winners
Well done to Daniel (5th Class) who won the Maths Eyes Competition. Daniel created a fantastic poster of a car park where the answer was found through using perspective.
Well done also to Thomas (Infants) Lilly Ann (1st Class) and Billy (4th Class) who won our Maths Week Competition for guessing the number of cubes in the jar.

NUIG Science Competition
The Senior Room worked extremely hard on producing a movie for the NUIG competition with a topic of their choice. As The Energy Crisis is quite topical, they decided to choose it. A huge well done to all the boys and girls.

Heritage Visit
On the 19th of October, we received a visit from Ross; a Heritage School Specialist. The Senior Room took a walk around the school grounds and learned the names, facts and lots more about the plants, trees and wildlife in our school grounds. To warm up afterwards, everyone enjoyed a cup of tea!

U13 League Cup Winners
There was great excitement when Ben and Bobby arrived at school with a cup after Cornafean bet Templeport to become Division 4 Champions. Well done boys!
Nocturnal Animals
In Science, we have been learning about nocturnal animals. Each group selected an animal to research and compile a project.
Active Week
For Active Week, all pupils participated in various activities, including Active homework, orienteering games, a drumming workshop, stations and sports day!
Minecraft Education
6th class pupils completed a challenge to design a hotel on Minecraft Education. There were some fantastic features, including car-parks, helicopter pads, photo booths, fountains and fireworks! Well done, boys.
Creative Schools Competition
The Senior room took part in The Royal Creative Schools Competition. There were some very creative entries. Unfortunately, there can only be one winner, and we would like to wish a huge Congratulations to Ben in 6th class who won the competition with his entry.

FAI Soccer Blitz
We carried out an in-house five a side soccer blitz on the last day of term two. There was a tough competition, and after resorting to penalities, we crowned our winning team. A great morning of fun!
Make your own Robot!
The Senior Room were set the challenge to design and build a robot to complete jobs they don't like to do. They came up with some fantastic ideas, including baking, vacuuming, building and many other different types of robots. I think you will agree they are incredibly creative! Well done, everyone!
Active Maths
The Senior Room took advantage of the sunshine and practised drawing and labelling circles outside with string and chalk. In addition, we played some games with playing cards ordering suites in ascending order.
Daffodil Day
We celebrated Daffodil Day on Friday the 25th of March and raised over €200 for the Irish Cancer Society. Well done everyone!
Seachtain na nGaeilge
The whole school took part in lots of activities for seachtain na nGaeilge including Scratch and Art through Irish. We learned the Siege of Ennis, held a ceolchoirm, a tráth na gCeist, a Seanfhocail hunt and a Ceilí Mór. Mrs Magee held a bake off and made milkshakes, rice Kripsie buns, chocolate and decorative buns with everyone! Bhí craic agus spraoi iontach againn!

After discussing the reason behind eating pancakes on Shrove Tuesday, the senior room made and enjoyed creating their own with lots of toppings, of course!
WW1 Movies
Over the past few weeks, the Senior Room have been very busy working on Stop Motion WW1 movies. Each group created a storyboard and designed their backdrops during art. Happy New Year from the Senior Room!
Canada Projects
Have a look at 5th and 6th classes finished projects on Canada. Each pupil followed a brief, undertook research and put together a folder of information to display their learning. Well done everyone!
Local Projects
4th, 5th & 6th classes completed projects based on the local areas. They created posters and models based on Lough Oughter, Castle Saunderson, Flemings Folly, Drumlane Monastic Site, Belturbet Railway Station and Corravahan House & Gardens.
Christmas Shoebox Appeal
All pupils took part in the Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal. This worthy cause aims to collect gifts for less fortunate children all over the world. This year, the children and families of Kilmore Central National School showed their generosity as we had a huge collection of boxes. Thank you to everyone who brought in a box!

Biodiversity Workshop
On Thursday the 21st of October, Mrs Bothwell led a biodiversity workshop. The boys and girls learned all about the plants and animals in the school grounds. They also had the opportunity to go searching for wildlife using nets and pooters!

End of Term Activities
The senior room have enjoyed lots of End of Term Activities.
They were amazed at Konor the entertainer's skills and talents! They even got to practice making balloon animals, the diabalo, spinning plates and lots more!
They also had a socially distanced pizza party, a skipathon and an ice cream van come to school.

5th & 6th class celebrated Active Week from the 26th - 30th April. They took part in obstacle courses, fitness challenges and lots more!
Seachtain na Gaeilge
To celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge, 5th & 6th class took part in a Tráth na gCeist, played lots of games and made a conscious effort to speak Gaeilge throughout the week.
Last Friday, two gaeilgeoirí na seachtaine were selected. A huge well done to Vytaute and William.

Christmas Fun!
The Senior Room completed lots of Christmas themed activities including crafts, movies, hot chocolate and a table quiz! We even managed to complete some Christmas co-ordinates in maths!
As we were unable to perform a play this year, the boys and girls had the opportunity to watch previous plays. There was great enjoyment watching our current 6th class back in Junior Infants!
